National Ethernet
Beaming can provide fibre connectivity between two or more locations virtually anywhere in the UK with speeds from 10Mbps to 10Gbps or even higher, using Wave Division multiplexing (WDM).
Beaming’s National Ethernet services are delivered via fibre optic
Fibre optic, (also known as optical fibre) is a thin glass core surrounded by transparent cladding material with a lower index of refraction. The fibre is lit at each end by a laser and the light is kept in the core by a rule of physics known as total internal refraction, thus enabling the core to act as a waveguide. Fibre optic enables an incredibly high data transmission rate over very long distances. Unlike broadband delivered over copper networks, fibre does not have the complexity of multiple elements to diagnose in the event of a fault.
Fibre Optic not available in your area?
Ethernet First Mile (EFM) is a relatively new technology that delivers Ethernet speeds of up to 10Mbps synchronous. This is typically deployed where the cost of laying a new fibre optic connection would be prohibitive to the customer. EFM works by combining multiple copper pairs together to form a single faster connection and is similar to broadband aggregation. EFM is available from around 1100 telephone exchanges and the standard lead time is 30 working days.
